Track Report – Little Forest Raceway: New Plymouth, New Zealand
Little Forest Raceway in New Plymouth, New Zealand “started life as a large rubbish pile” and was the home of this years New Zealand Radio Controlled Association’s (NZRCA) 1/10 Vintage EP Off-Road Nationals. The 65×52 track sits on 8 truckloads of packed clay in the rear of TBS Coating and is home to the Kaipara RC Car Club.
The track runs Junior, 1/10 and 1/12 stock, 1/10 and 1/12 modified, and vintage classes on a weekly basis. For the NZRCA Vintage Nationals, classes were broken down further to include 2wd, 4wd and 2wd trucks that have a release date pre-1995, plastic chassis 2wd trucks with a release date of Pre 1995, 2wd and 4wd plastic chassis 2wd and 4wd buggies with a release date Pre 1989, and 1/10 and 1/12 scale Tamiya CW-01 class vehicles, the Lunchbox, Midnight Pumpkin, Unimog & Montero Wheelie.
On April 25th and 26th 2015 the Little Forest Raceway hosted the NZRCA 1/10 Vintage EP Off-Road Nationals and the club also hosts weekly club racing with over 30 members as well. With a great turn out for both vintage and normal racing, the Little Forest Raceway will continue to play an important role in the local and national vintage off-road scene in New Zealand.
